Volunteers

We’re working on something quietly wonderful behind the scenes.

A new space is taking shape—full of potential, with room for laughter, learning, woolly wonder, and meaningful community connection. As the Beehive Wool Shop Foundation grows, we’re inviting volunteers to help us bring this vision to life.

Whether you love organizing, crafting, decorating, welcoming people, or simply offering ideas and encouragement, there is a place for you here.

Why Volunteer With the Beehive Wool Shop Foundation?

Volunteering with the Foundation is about more than helping out—it’s about being part of a caring, creative community. Our programs use knitting, crochet, and fibre arts as tools for connection, mental well-being, and inclusion, with a focus on serving people who face barriers to participation, including:

  • 2SLGBTQIA+ folks
  • Low-income community members
  • Newcomers
  • People with disabilities
  • Seniors and youth
  • Women and gender-diverse people
  • People in rural or remote communities

As a volunteer, you’ll help us create welcoming, low-pressure spaces where people can learn, share skills, and feel a sense of belonging.

How You Might Get Involved

We’re building our volunteer community thoughtfully and sustainably. Opportunities may include:

  • Helping prepare and organize our new space
  • Supporting free or low-cost community programs and events
  • Assisting with workshops, social stitching circles, or outreach activities
  • Sorting materials, assembling kits, or helping with displays
  • Sharing skills, ideas, or lived experience that strengthen our programs

No prior fibre arts experience is required—just curiosity, kindness, and a willingness to be part of a collaborative, inclusive environment.

What to Expect

We know everyone’s capacity is different. Volunteering with us can be occasional or ongoing, behind-the-scenes or people-facing. We’ll do our best to match opportunities with what lights you up and what fits your availability.

If this sounds like something you’d like to be part of, we’d love to hear from you.
