Community in Every Stitch: Our March Visit to Our Place Society

On March 16, 2026, the Beehive Wool Shop Foundation visited Our Place Society in Victoria for another afternoon of knitting, learning, and connection.

These gatherings are a reminder that fibre arts are not just about making – they are about being together. Around the table, people share stories, support one another, and build relationships in a way that feels natural and welcoming. What starts as a simple activity becomes a space where community can grow.

With each visit, we see that sense of connection deepen. Participants are not only gaining confidence in their stitches, but also in themselves and in each other. There is a growing rhythm to the group – people checking in, offering help, celebrating progress, and creating something collectively.

This work is at the heart of the Beehive Wool Shop Foundation. We are dedicated to promoting community engagement and mental well-being through knitting, crochet, and other fibre arts, while working to remove barriers by providing access to materials, education, and inclusive programming. In spaces like this, we see that vision come to life – a community where creativity, connection, and resilience are built together.

We are incredibly grateful to Our Place Society for welcoming us so warmly and for sharing this space with us. It is a privilege to be part of such a strong and caring community.

We look forward to returning on April 13 to continue building connections, sharing skills, and making together.
